Olympic qualifying tournament

The FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament in Serbia will take place in Belgrade Arena from 4th to 9th July of 2016.

On each of the three basketball qualifying tournaments for the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, only the first placed will earn a place in Brazil. Qualifications will be played by Serbia, Italia, France, Czech Republic, Greece, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Iran, Japan, Philippines, Senegal, Tunisia and Angola, while Croatia, Turkey and Latvia received invitations for participating in qualifying tournaments by FIBA. Czech Republic, Japan, Latvia, Puerto Rico, Angola and the host Serbia will play in the tournament in Belgrade, arranged in two groups, trying to get to the semi-finals.

Because of the conflict between FIBA and Euroleague there was even a doubt that the qualifying tournament will be held in Belgrade, but there wasn’t an escalation and the capital of Serbia will have the honour of hosting the overture to the tournament in Brazil.The national team of the host nation lead by the legendary ex-player Sale Đorđević is the tournament’s favourite, for the sheer quality of the team and the advantage of the home court ensured by the thousands of fans expected in the Belgrade Arena.

Daily tickets for the Olympic qualifying tournament for the games in Rio de Janeiro are available for purchase, Serbian basketball association stated. Tickets for the matches of the group stage can be bought, and the tickets for the semi-finals and final also. Ticket sets are not available for purchase and only daily tickets will be available for purchase until the end of the tournament.

Daily tickets cost from 400 to 1.800 dinars in the group stage of the competition. For the semi-final matches on the 8th of July, prices range from 400 to 2.200 dinars. and the tickets for the final on the 9th of July will cost 400, 600, 800, 1.800, 2.200 and 2.600 dinars.
