CantOut, singer-songwriter festival, will be held on 8th and 9th of July in the garden of the gallery Polet.
CantOut was created as an initiative to provide new authors with the media space, as well as to map the current theater scene with all virtues and potentials. A donor gathering and fundraising for the prize of the CantOut festival, was opened in the name of this incentive.
Singer-songwriters are the special kind of artist who write the music and lyrics that they perform. In their poems, they usually introduce social, political and philosophical themes. At one time this type of music was related to songs in which a protest was necessarily expressed. Today, this term is not so much related to political criticism as before and can have any topic. Their song has a long and long tradition in the Mediterranean countries of Europe, and to a lesser extent in Latin America.
At this year sing-songwriter festival twenty three participants from Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia will perform in competitive and non-competitive program.
Organizers consider the CantOut Festival as a social activity, so they gave the opportunity to all those who value the work of authorship to draw attention and support the authors with symbolic donations.
A fund for the prize was collected with the help of 21 donors. Many donors of the festival are actually established musicians and accomplished artists. In this way, they have achieved a special kind of support among colleagues who want to make the author’s scene in Serbia and the region as successful as possible. Through donations, they pay attention and give support to the authors.
Three-member jury made by Ana Ćurčin, Milutin Jovančić and Siniša Stojanović and the audience will take part in the final decision. Audience will have the opportunity to vote for favorite authors and songs so festival’s interaction will be raised to a higher level. The goal of the festival is to bring the singer’s pieces as close as possible to the audience and provide them with the audience and to give them an incentive to create further.
Entrance to both festival days is free.
